Turkish Delights

I have a slight obsession with kilim rugs at the moment.  I think that, paired with the right pieces, these rugs can add just the right amount of colour and texture to a space.
Having a more traditional look and being quite a statement piece, I recommend mixing them with more neutral/modern pieces.  Here are some great examples.

Tomte på loftet!

A few months ago I posted about helping out some friends to turn their office into a fun and functional loft room for their 6 year old daughter. http://frankiewasright.blogspot.se/2013/02/snakes-and-ladders.html

Here are the results!

Cosy Vintage

Here is a great apartment in the Stockholm suburb of Vasteras.  It has been beautifully styled with an eclectic array of vintage pieces and has a really cosy modern industrial feel.  Yes, I could live here!

Hams & Bacon by Pope Joan

People of Melbourne! Go check out this adorable new takeaway and local produce store in Brunswick!  Owner Matt Wilkinson admits he can't make a coffee but has won an award for "World's Best Sandwich Maker" and there are skilled baristas brewing up tasty treats.
Sadly, I am not in a position to make it to Melbs to check this place out for myself so I ask that you please go in and sip on a short black while waiting for your tasty sanga and let me know how it is.  Thanks peeps!

Seeing the Light

I'm loving these lamps and interiors by Brooklyn based design firm Workstead.  They also do gorgeous custom cabinetry!  I will save that for a later post.

Snakes and Ladders

Some friends of mine, who have baby #3 arriving very soon, have asked me to help them turn what is now their office/spare room into a bedroom for their 7 year old daughter.  She wants a jungle themed room which we (the adults) all agree should not be too jungle, as she will no doubt change her mind in the blink of an eye, but it's a fun idea to work off.

As is the case in most Stockholm apartments, we are working with limited space so the best option is to build a loft bed which will allow us to still use all of the floor space and access an existing built in closet.

Brainstorming is underway and the builders are starting next week so here's a little taste of what's been inspiring me for this project. Some photos of the finished product will soon follow!
